Summary/Abstract: This essay tries to reveal the internal layers and composition of the collection Od Zlata Jabuka (Apple Made of Gold), pointing how Vasko Popa divided his poetic wreath into mutually related units which he called series. Applying structural-semiotic method, the paper notices, names and specifies the borders of these series, thus pointing to the compositional function which some folk types acquire. In addition to the semantic richness and esthetic value characteristic for each of them specifically, different types of folk literature also acquire a specific function in the compositional unity of the entire collection — in its every series, but also in every column in the series (like in the case of the short, paronymic types like riddles, proverbs, sayings etc).
