Summary/Abstract: Unutrašnja Strana Vetra (The Inner Side of Wind) is a polysemous and complex work. It is difficult to discover completely all the aspects, meanings and hints present in it. Like any Pavic’s work, it is difficult to comment, because it comments itself. Opting for the unconventional narrative procedure, Pavic provoked some unfavourable criticisms, too. It is easy to make a mistake when evaluating Pavic’s stylistic procedure. Abundance of bizarreness, numerous unusual encounters and imaginative pictures only have the function to illustrate better Pavic’s capabilities to merge different principles, tradition and a broad understanding of the rich cultural heritage. Predrag Palavestra said that the bizarreness, paradoxes and chaotic nonsense had the task to beguile the mind, cheat consciousness and distract attention. Paradoxes tired Pavic’s style, tired the syntax and completely drew up the fantastic discourse which was brought to the brink of saturation by over-salting. However, it is enough to say: „A nice story does not need a nice language. A nice language and nice words are necessary only for the bad stories. Good stories find their words and their language themselves and do well in all languages”.
