Summary/Abstract: In this paper, Dejan Milutinovic tries to determine the position of history in the interpretation of a literary text. Pointing to the presence of historical methodology from the second half of the 17th century till today and taking into account three dimensions which determine the phenomenon of literature — author (writer), text (work), interpreter (reader), the author singles out the notions of the historical, historiographic and historic. The author assumes that the historic interpretation deals with the “historical philology” of the work; historiographic interpretation views the poetic, genre and intertextual principles in coding of historical contents, while historic interpretation includes the study of hermeneutics of text.
