Summary/Abstract: The article presents the recollections of Ryszard Dowgun (a teenage boy from Lida) concerning his time in the camp in Ukhta. The narrative came about as a result of the „Testimony to the Truth” competition advertised in 1989 by the Wojciech Kętrzyński Research Centre in Olsztyn and the Olsztyn branch of the Polish Historical Association. In his narrative, Ryszard Dowgun recalls the circumstances of his arrest, transport to Siberia, and above all, the tragic experiences of his time in prison and later in the camp. He tells of hard labour, hunger, the „rhythm” of the day in the camp, and his return to Poland. Thanks to Dowgun's narrative, we can understand in detail the Soviet system of repression embodied in the Soviet prison system and the work of prisoners of various nationalities in the forced labour camps which existed from the inception of the Bolshevik regime.
