FOLLOWING THE STEPS OF IBSEN: CHINESE NORAS

Summary/Abstract: Through the comparative analisys of several „Nora plays“ and Lu Xun’s short story Regret for the Past, on one side, and Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, on the other, this article tends to answer the following questions: in which way is Ibsen’s Nora received in May Fourth period’s China, and how do Chinese Noras perceive family and society? The article pays a special attention to the concequences of Nora’s leaving home, as well as to the problem of achieving the real personal autonomy.
