Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the overturning, heretical spirituality in Dictionary of the Khazars by Milorad Pavić. The problem of heresy, on display at the three teachings of Adam, is the key to understanding the novel, a fictional world and its spiritual architecture. This problem involves “true” reorganization of the world, and its re-creation. For, in relation to the “official” religion, heresy is in the metaphysical sense more truthful. In relation to ”reality”, dreams are also more truthful. Subversive Spirituality, and the willingness of such a spirituality of dialogue, therefore, implies and raises questions concerning not only the position of Pavić’s novel within the Serbian culture, but also a willingness of the culture to establish and maintain the dialogue with the novel as well.
