Summary/Abstract: In the recent years, the researchers’ interest toward V. I. Dahl’s creative works has been steadily growing. A lot of books, articles, and notes presenting V. I. Dahl as a writer, a poet, a surgeon, as well as a sea officer were written. Narrations concerning his marine experience are connected with V. I. Dahl’s study at the Navy Cadet School. As to Dahl’s creative works written during his education at the Navy Cadet School little is known. The “Daily Journal…” kept by Dahl during his Baltic Sea voyage on the brig «Phoenix» is of special value. Visiting European countries during his sea voyage Dahl experienced disappointment with Sweden and fascination with Sweden.
