Summary/Abstract: The subject of research are the first signs of purism during the Bulgarian Revival: from 'Istoria Slavianobolgarska' until the end of the late 20s of 19th century when the puristic idea in the social space was implicitly expressed. The most typical features of the initial phase of Bulgarian purism are glorification of Bulgarian language, ascribing of symbolic functions and prestige to it, the attitude of loyalty and pride with the view of excluding Greek from the cultural and linguistic space.
