Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the specific features of non-finite forms in the structure of the Turkish parts of speech. Being intermediate parts of speech, non-finite verb forms demonstrate exceptional flexibility. Depending on their functions as parts of the sentence, they may play the role of nouns, adjectives and adverbs, as their fluctuations range between nouns and verbs, verbs and adverbs, being restricted by the language norm on one hand, and by the lexicalisation processes on the other. Furthermore, we should note their specific function of adding predication in the formation of complex sentences. The frequency of use of non-finite verb forms as mental subjects and predicates which semantically and structurally differ from the traditional notion for subject and predicate necessitates the introduction of a broader term reflecting the predicative relations: the topic-comment structure, as well as introduction of the term nonlinear predication and reconsideration of the system of Turkish from the stand point of predication theory.
