Summary/Abstract: Atanasije Stojković (1773-1832) is a multifaceted and intriguing person who was very significant for Serbian cultural history. There are many sources about him, both professional and scientific texts written by historians, writers, literary historians, science historians, astronomers, physicians. Serbian authors studied him and valued his work as a writer - the writer of the first novels in Serbian literature; as a scientist - the author of books from natural sciences and a writer-translator of the New Testament. Because of all these texts and works we can say that the life and work of Atanasije Stojković is well-known to different scientific circles. The wider public is not familiar with his name and his contributions to the Serbian and Russian cultures. We can say that there are unverified, unknown and even contradictory data about him.
