THEORETICAL BASIS OF MIODRAG PAVLOVIC’S POETICS. ESSAY COLLECTION THE DEADLINES OF POETRY

Summary/Abstract: The first essay collection of Miodrag Pavlovic The Deadlines of Poetry represents the theoretical basis and a unique outline of the program of his poetic, essay and literary-historic research that was to come in the fruitful creative decades of one of the most significant modern Serbian literature authors. Through contemplations of the fundamental issues of poetry, problem of interpretation, possibilities of the direction of development of the modern poetic expression and the notion of tradition in the Eliotesque meaning of the notion, Pavlovic drafted the ideational and poetic framework through which his poetic expression would be moving, and also expressed the thought about poetry and culture, and so the essays in the Deadlines of Poetry represent a valuable source for the interpretation of the poets explicit poetics and testify to the early development of a high crtitical and poetic self-awareness of our significant poet, anthologist and essayist.
