Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the capacity to read and interpret the transcription of folklore interview as a literary text, and limitations imposed in the process due to non-specific genre and fragmented structure of the transcription, as well as the complex position between spoken and written, reality and imagination. As the broadest theoretical context post modernistic framework imposed itself due to its ability to eliminate borders between literary and non-literary texts, historiography and fiction, text and context, as well as its principle stance within “linguistic relativity” that rhetorical figures and narrative structures shape the thought and participate in the construction and representation of the reality. For this analysis the transcriptions of the conversations recorded during the field research of the traditional culture were chosen. The research was carried out within the project The Study and Preservation of the Non-Material Cultural Inheritance of the Republic of Serbia, and in the process of the thematic selection of materials was given the label: The spoken history of the defeated. Female narratives in family stories about the Second World War.
