Summary/Abstract: Poetess Desanka Maksimović spent her entire career as a high school teacher; she started working even before she graduated as a teacher of the Private grammar school in Obrenovac. Then she shortly worked in the Third female grammar school in Belgrade and in the State school for teachers in Dubrovnik. From 1926 until she retired in 1952 Desanka Maksimović was a teacher in the First female grammar school in Belgrade.
