ПРИПОВЕДАЊЕ И ИНВЕНЦИЈА ИСКУСТВА У САВРЕМЕНОЈ СРПСКОЈ ПРОЗИ
INVENTING FROM THE EXPERIENCE IN CONTEMPORARY SERBIAN FICTION

Summary/Abstract: The paper sets out to explore various literary texts by contemporary Serbian writers with the intention to demonstrate the degree of characters’ dependence upon regulations imposed by narrative strategies and the literary text’s authenticity respectively. Dragan Velikić, David Albahari, Laslo Blašković and Slobodan Tišma manipulate facts and fiction, exploring the blurried border between the two, casting elaborate sketches of the cities that serve as the background to the characters’ identity crises. The protagonists of Albahari, Velikić and Blašković try to come to terms with their historical, cultural and intimate heritage, soliciting support and sympathy from the figures of prominent artists who set the example of successful reconciliation of love, ambition and faith, whereas Tatjana Stupar Trifunović reinvents intimate history as a her story in order to escape preestablished designs imposed by the male-oriented literary canon.
