Student Academic, Creative and Sport Activity in Shumen Higher Pedagogical Institute, 1971-1991

Summary/Abstract: The article does a profound study of various forms of student research, creative and sport activity at Shumen Higher Pedagogical Institute as well as in the country during the period 1971-1991. Original archival documents and other sources have been used for this aim. The author shows specific positive results from this participation and reveals the significant achievements of the students in Shumen in the national movement for technical and scientific creativity of the youth. He emphasizes on the role of professors as academic supervisors in student study groups and clubs. There is detailed information in this article regarding awards that the students in the Higher Pedagogical Institute received for their research and other activities. The author stresses in the conclusion on the professional development of former students in Shumen who have qualifications in the sphere of education, science, culture, arts, etc. These qualifications enable them to find appropriate realization of their abilities in Bulgarian social life.
