Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the image of woman in the concepts of marriage and wedding ceremony that have been addressed by many artists in Turkey through the studies produced by female artists. Within the scope of the study, how woman image is represented in the institution of marriage and wedding ceremonies as part of social reality will be discussed by examining the background of social, political, economic, cultural, psychological and class dynamics. Thus, within the frame of the marriage and wedding concepts, female identity in plastic arts in Turkey and the codes related to gender will be examined. The work investigates woman image basing it on Gülsün Karamustafa, Şükran Moral, Canan and Gülçin Aksoy’s artworks which explore woman phenomenon with wedding and marriage themes.
