Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the widely discussed purism of one of the most prominent representatives of Bulgarian Revival - Dr. Ivan Bogorov - author of dictionaries, books and articles, known as the father of Bulgarian journalism. The article presents a convincing characteristic and evaluation of the main features of his purism, discussed on the background of the Revival purism idea and avoiding the sensationalist and superficial interpretation of his work (typical of a number of popular non-specialist interpretations). A conclusion is drawn that Bogorov's purism targets foreign influences and is motivated ideologically, with the highly patriotic aim of guarding and preserving Bulgarian language from foreign influences on the one hand, and enlightening Bulgarian people on the other.
