Problems of Independent Accountants and Financial Advisers and the Gender Dimension: The Cases in Artvin and Rize

Summary/Abstract: The existence of a properly functioning accounting system in a country affects the efficient operation of companies constituent the basis of the economy and therefore the healthy operation of the country's economy. The proper functioning of the accounting system also depends on the accounting professionals who are operating this system. Because the problems experienced by members of the profession affect the quality of the produced knowledge. The accountants have many problems that arise from their colleagues, the customers they serve, the state and the staff they employ. On the other hand, problems arising from gender, defined as roles attributed to individuals by the society as a result of being man or woman, affect the members of the accountants as well as every labor market. The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems of independent accountants financial advisers and to compare these problems in terms of gender. After the detailed literature search in the study, the problems of the accounting profession were determined, according to the questionnaire applied to accounting professionals who work independently and actively in Artvin and Rize provinces, the problems of members of the profession were analyzed in terms of gender. According to the results of the analysis, there was no significant difference between the genders in the problems related to the customers of the professionals accountant. But it was determined that there is partly a significant difference between the genders in problems of colleagues, public institutions, personnel and work intensity.
