Summary/Abstract: Houses and mansions from earlier periods are only tools to exhibit the tastes of a period as well as their influences on the people far from the center. Having the qualification of a documentary of the past and representing reflections of the period to the province, these traditional houses and the decorative wood parts are not able to resist what the time brings and therefore are destroyed day by day. These houses, decreasing in number each passing day, need to be passed down to the future at least via documentation. Within this regard, Hacı Hızır Salih Efendi Evi being one of the limited houses reaching today with their decorations in the center of Denizli has been tried to be documented upon examination based on its architecture and decorative elements. Although scantiness of its hand carved decorations, the decorations on wood elements such as cupboards, ceiling and especially doors of Hacı Hızır Salih Efendi Evi having the classical outside anteroom of Ottomon Period, are quite attention grabbing. It is seen on the wood decorations which were assigned with symbolic meanings that plantal motifs have gained importance and the motifs getting inside of our art with the Westernization effect have merged with the local motifs.Hacı Hızır Salih House is one of these houses with its typical traditional Turkish house plan as well as its decorations shaped by its builder’s financial sources and tastes. It conveys the stylistic features of the period as it was reflected to the public and to masters at the time.
