A Research on The Effect of Resource Dependence Decreasing Strategies to Competitive Superiority

Summary/Abstract: The literature of management and organization theory have tried to find solution to the problem “ how can organizations can be managed better with the effect of roots fed by technical roots. Throughout the development process of management and organization theory literature, sociology and philosophy based theories which try to understand the organizations rather than managing them effectively have been put into effect besides supervisory trend. These two ecoles gave rise to the distinction of today’s manager and scientist. Resource dependence theory takes its part in organizational literature as management. Niche width theory which makes up another important part of this study is studied under the title of organizational population ecology theory that is mostly on the side of science. Sustainable competitive advantage is the extension of competitive advantage against the opponents over a long period of time and providing of its value’s not being able to be imitated thanks to its definition not including time unit. In research part, the effects of the strategies of decreasing resource dependence defined by Pfeffer and Salancik on sustainable competitive advantage have been studied in aquaculture producers in the context of niche width theory that was defined by organizational ecology approach and contemporary applications. By doing so, it is aimed to evaluate the effect of resource dependence on competitive advantage and to evaluate resource dependence in the context of niche width that is an issue of organizational ecology theory in addition to its explanation. It is also aimed to contribute to the studies about scientific merging in management-organization literature. At the same time, the evaluation of resource dependence theory in regards of parts that haven’t been studied realized.
