Summary/Abstract: Problem-based learning model is a model supporting experiential learning and creativity, in this article, this educational model has been questioned on the availability of the arts in education lessons. In this study, method was implemented to 21 students selected from 6th class of Mustafa Aykın Elementary School in a workshop environment in the academic year 2012- 2013. At the end of the study, they have shared the thrill of finding the solution to a problem in the classroom by establishing contemporary art works in which used problem based learning model. This educational model, alongside traditional approaches to education that attracted the attention of students and can be applied in visual arts education classes was observed. For this purpose, it is aimed to find answers to following questions. What is problem-based learning approach? What are the main features of ğroblem-based learning process? How should be organized problem-based learning process in primary school in terms of art education? What is the effect of problem-based learning approach in art education? While searching for the answers to these questions, it is seen as applicable by selecting contemporary art subject and applied for elementary school students by using problem-based education.
