Summary/Abstract: The general consent that modernity leads to homogenization and organic solidarity, which rearranges relationships, has been questioned, either in that homogenization creates a parallel trend towards differentiation, or by arguing that tradition and modernity can coexist. This opinion, which deals with the social and cultural system of traditional societies as completely opposed to modernity, is adjacent to what is named “disenchantment of the world”, where modernity is the offender and traditionalism is the victim. The intent of this paper is to study the phenomenon of the usage of marriage agencies, which constitute a field that is appropriate in order to approach this phenomenon. The same modernity nourishes their development with the fragmentation of the social web and the activation of the social networks, which interceded in the arrangement of social relationships.
