The Actor and the Target (Chapter 2)

Summary/Abstract: Declan Donnellan's​ The Actor and the Target is a practical guidebook for actors. In this issue of Playing Area, as the topic is the art of acting, we publish Balázs Bodolai’s translation of the second chapter, in which the author clarifies the meaning of the target, while also offers practical examples to illustrate how to make use of it. According to the method, the actor must always have a target, and this target is the function of every action of the actor and subsequently, of the character.
