Summary/Abstract: The year 1918 is significant in the history of many European states, not only because it was the end of a great conflagration, but also because they have acquired the status that most of them have today. The disolution of three empires left behind them many people who have seen the new state entities asmore suitable forms to fulfill their destinies. Not all of these countries have resisted until today, and some of the unresolved ethnical and religious issues of that time have continued until our days but, mostly, the map of Europe remained in the lines then drawn. In this paper we will present the troubled period at the end of the world conflagration in a region characterized by ethnic and religious interference and through a special geographical and administrative status: Banat. Aspiration of each ethnic group to self-determination and the establishment of a national state led to conflicts, a rapid succession of events that revolves on military and socio-economic terms, respectively high-level negotiations have made them even more chaotic. Our intention is to briefly present the events concerning Banat during the period 1918-1919, from the end of the war until the takeover of the region by the Romanian administration.
