Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to justify the thesis that the validity of the assumptions of Stefan Kunowski's contradictory theory is a confirmation of the psychological and pedagogical property of the relationship between the development and the upbringing of man with his self-fulfillment, seen as a reason and a condition of happiness. According to the pedagogue, human development encompasses five developmental periods that take place within seven years. Every development period starts a separate layer of education. These layers are formed in the following order: biological, psychological, sociological, cultural, spiritual. The article presents the sources of the contradictory theory of education, its general assumptions and their validity. It is justified that the integrity of the layers of education is a condition of self-fulfillment and of human happiness. It has been referenced to psychological-pedagogical theory and empiric: Abraham Maslow's self-realization theory; the principle of high quality of being Martin Seligman; flow theory of Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi; onion theory of happiness of Janusz Czapiński; creative acomology; narratives of teachers at the life breakthrough in the study of Joanna Lukasik.
