AN ANUSUAL PRINTING TECHNIQUE IN TEXTILE DESIGN “RUST PRINTING”

Summary/Abstract: In recent years, the use of rust has been introduced into the design world after being noticed that the rust spot could be transformed into an artistic technique. Designers have gone to seek natural materials and has begun to create original designs as the result of the harmful effects of chemical dyes to environment and human health became apparent. Among this techniques, ecological printing is a process of creating a pattern on the surface by using natural materials such as plants and rusty metals. While the use of rust printing, being one the ecological printing techniques, has been gaining steam in the world, it is still in its early stage in our country. In this study, the use of rust in design world and the results of the present experimental study were presented.
