Summary/Abstract: The Esterházy family partially purchased and partially inherited the Levice (Léva, Lewenz) estate from the Csáky family; they became its sole owners after 1732. The study observes organization of citizens in Levice and its surroundings, disputes over landowner rights between the citizens of Levice and count Esterházy, their tax obligations (and immunities), as well as social structure, local population and other demographic data. Attention was also paid to the rights, obligations and estates of burghers and the position of various town nobilities, as well as their function in the municipality and its legal and administrative organization.
