Police, Media and Accountability

Summary/Abstract: Accountability, is the one of the most important solutions in order to prevent the abuse of authority and responsibility. Doubtless, accountability becomes much more important, if we talk about public services directly related to rights and freedoms like policing. Using the media -which has lots of effects on todays' societies- in order to provide accountability can offer a variety of solutions. Increase in accountability means more transparent and interrogated public services. Use of the media as a means for accountability, will ensure this transperancy at a very participant frame. In this study, through this evalution; the importance of transperancy will be evaluated through public services especially security services and the role of media for providing the accountability will be discussed.
