Summary/Abstract: Iran has the potential to become a significant regional and international player. Iran uses all its soft and military power in this regard. However, it is facing a problem in exporting its theocratic model to regional countries. The Iranian strategy is one of the most controversial strategies in the Middle East. Since the Cold War era, the Iranian foreign policy has seen various political patterns in regional and international levels. Iran’s geostrategic location, population weight, imperial legacy, and military power make Tahran play significant role in the region. The article argues that despite the Islamic aspirations, Iran’s strategic approach to the region, beginning from 2003, is focused on armed Shiite groups. Indeed, through these non-state agents, Iran has extended its influence in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.
