Summary/Abstract: The Lithuanian Education Concept (1992), the Strategy of State Education (2003) and other documents motivate teachers to disclose learners’ abilities, encourage initiative and their wish to perform at school. In this case social and pedagogical environment becomes an utmost factor of the development of a personality, and explands the notion of efficiency in education. It works with musical education as well. The system of relationship is very important for the development of a personality. From this point of view art is very important because a maturing personality blends the values of the past and the present through perceived creation. In this way a positive relationship with musical activity is shaped. Morever, inter-personal relationship is also important in the lesson. It leads to the creaton of the system of lesson relationship where a person’s spirituality is cherished. Consenquently, musical activity should be accepted as an improvement of the relationship system and its development not only as a direct factor in the development of a personal culture. Therefore class musical activities appear to be a pedagogical problem. The aim of the research is to disclose students’ attitudes towards musical activities while building the relation system in the lesson. The object of the research is students’ musical activities as a factor in the system of relations. The tasks of the research are to explain students’ attitudes towards musical activities; to disclose factors of the evoluation of musical activities important for students; to point out the importance of relationship in the lesson for the development of a person’s culture. The methods of the research are students’ compositions and interviews. 203 respondents were surveyed in 2004: 182 students from forms 3–4 and forms 9–10, and 21 church choir members. The students filled in the questionnaire and the choir members expressed their opinions writting about sacred music which they listened to in the research. While analysing the results of the research it appeared that musical activities are quite a real way of expressing individuality as well as socio-culture. The teacher has to bear in mind these circumstances because students’ standpoint concerning musical activities affects the process of creating the system of relationship in the lesson. This system improves communication and relations among schoolchildren even without creating a direct pedagogical situation (choir members‘ research). Bearing all this in mind a need for creating humanistic relationship based on musical activities should be established at school. It can be achieved observing students’ interest in musical activities and including the relationship of activities into the system of interpersonal relations in the lesson. The results of the research revealed that musical activities in lessons should be evaluated as the factor creating the system of relationship and improving its evolution.
