Summary/Abstract: The article presents research results on first form pupils’ adaptation, achievement motivation and style of their upbringing in the families. 147 first form pupils, their parents and 15 teachers participated in this research. Pupils were selected by place of residence, cultural and social environment. The results of this research showed that 70,1% of first form pupils could adapt easily, 23,8% of children were at a medium level of school adaptation, even 6,1% of children experienced hard adaptation. The analysis revealed three styles of education in the families: democratic, liberal, and authoritarian. The data revealed that there exists a statistically significant Pearson’s correlation between school adaptation and the style of upbringing in the family (p < 0,05). A correlation between school adaptation and need of achievement among primary school students in first year of their studies was not statistically significant (p < 0,20).
