Summary/Abstract: The tendencies of the development of the German Catholic Mass as one of the kinds of low mass are revealed. The German Mass is considered to be one of the genres of Austrian and German sacred music of the second half of the XVIIIth – beginning of the XIXth centuries. The characteristics of the German Mass in the Austrian composes’ creativity of the mentioned period is given in the article. The “German Mass” of F. Schubert is considered.
