Summary/Abstract: Humanitarian and artistic problems of modern development trends for design activity are investigated and justified. The lack of a holistic view of these problems is underlined and a strategy of multidimensional, systematic, scientific research on the subject entitled “Design and development trends and directions” is suggested.
