Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article are the empty frames of the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa appearing in photographs from the period of the Polish People's Republic during the pilgrimage in Poland in 1966-1972, because the icon was „arrested” by the Security Service.The author qualifies the „empty frame” for a photo-essay and explains the notions and theories drawn from the cognitive scientists involved in the creation of meanings. It raises the question whether photography in cultural space is only an image or something more – a world's vision? As a theologist, he puts forward the thesis that – a vision.
