Summary/Abstract: People, from the beginning of the history, have been interested in the skies as they have been interested in the earth. A series of very fertile beliefs have formed around events, objects and concepts related to sky. Evaluation of the beliefs and cultural systems before the Turks accepted Islam showed that Turks have reached the peak simultaneously through the cult of ancestors, different cults of nature and finally through the Sky God (Tengrism) cult. The traces of this cult are also seen in today’s Turkish World, Anatolia and in our research field Adana, in forms of various beliefs related with the Sky God, the sun, the moon, stars, celestial events and meteorology.
