Summary/Abstract: The 1951 Refugee Convention and the 1967 Protocol are essential documents giving the opportunity to derive the legal definition of the term ‘refugee’ from their content, as well as outlining the categories of subjects which the convention is applicable to, expanding the term refugee and others, falling into the effect of the exclusion clauses. Outlining the range of protection and the correlation with the legislation of the European Union is of great significance for the development of unified standard in the sphere of asylum and migration which can be related to the range and expansion of the term, as well as the characteristics and effect of the act of recognizing the status of the refugee.
