Summary/Abstract: The most important problems of the contemporary culture are connected with the existing mechanisms, which neutralize cultural potential to profanation. G. Agamben analyses those problems in his essay entitled In Praise of Profanation. Based on the W. Benjamin ideas, he shows the causes and results of the processes. Also, he shows contemporary civilization as the civilization of spectacle. He believes that things can only be exhibited or consumed. Marek Śnieciński wrote about the problems connected with senses and carnality in the context of Agamben’s ideas. In his many-layer essay, he concentrated on contemporary art and culture in the context of those problems, which were only briefly discussed by Agamben.
