Summary/Abstract: The analysis conducted in the article concerns the history of stock and monetary exchanges on Polish soil, both in the context of organizational and legal aspects, with particular emphasis on the period after independence and economic transformation. Despite the break in trading activity that took place in the communist period, the resumption of trading in securities after 1989 took place at both the necessary substantive assistance coming from more experienced stock market and based on the traditions of the Polish stock exchange. The redeveloped stock market in Poland is characterized by greater importance and more positive dynamics of changes than during the interwar period. The paper is based on the international literature and legal acts as well as statistical date delivered by WSE.
