Summary/Abstract: The article examines the role of national elites in the preservation of culture and creative potential of Ukrainian society, particularly with all the negative factors and sometimes contradictory tendencies associated with becoming an independent state. Ukrainian cultural elite could not only save the heritage of earlier stages of development, but also bring Ukrainian culture to the world horizon.
