Chamber performance as a factor in cultivating (on the example of the musical culture of the Poltava region during the XIX - early XX centuries)

Summary/Abstract: Using the example of the musical culture of Poltava oblast in XIX– early XX centuries the author views chamber music as a factor of culture making. She highlights the ways chamber music was evolving in the region: from the first forms of musical performances at homes and organizing home music societies to the activities of professional chamber music ensembles. In particular, the author analyzed the track record of Poltava Chamber Music Society, while emphasizing the role of creative personality in the accomplishments of the organization.
