Summary/Abstract: This paper presents a dictionary namely the Rumänisch-deutsches Wörterbuch(vol. I–III, Bucharest, 1903–1924), written by H. Tiktin, that is often referred to asthe starting point of Romanian modern lexicography. In order to provide a betterunderstanding of why this dictionary holds its place among lexicographers andlinguists, we present its technical data and method. The expressed aim of this paperis to illustrate that Rumänisch-deutsches Wörterbuch anticipates a long tradition inthe academic Romanian lexicography.
