Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author gives a historical description of the reaction of Czechoslovakia to the Hungarian uprising of 1956 and analyzes the causes of the reaction. Formation of the Czechoslovak public view on the Hungarian events connects with the historical past relationships Hungary, Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union. The reaction of the party leadership of the Czechoslovak Republic, which determines the policy, represents due to many factors, among which was the dominant communist ideology. Summarizing, author reveals the causes of different course of events, Czechoslovakia and Hungary, 1956.
