Summary/Abstract: The longitudinal research conducted on a sample of 252 junior school age students aimed to examine changes in physical abilities, depending on the regularity of attending PE classes and additional sports. The results of the covariance analysis and t - test show that the students who had attended PE classes regularly were more successful in 6 out of 7, but with statistically significant difference in 4 tests: Taping by hand (p = 0.002), Deep forward bend at the bench (p = 0.043) , Standing Long Distance Jump (p = 0.035) and Torso Lifting from Lying on Back (0.039). As even one-third of the examinees do not engage in any physical activity, apart from the PE classes, the recommendation of the author is to increase the number of compulsory classes at 5 trainings a week, thus increasing the efficiency of teaching in the development of motor skills in students. The PE teaching classes should be differentiated according to the level of physical abilities and adjust with the needs and interests of students to be desirable and interesting for students of all ages.
