Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to present a broad picture of the impact of media and life in the mediatized world on participants of educational process, student and teacher, and their mutual relations. The diagnosis was accomplished through the prism of McLuhan’s tetrads of Laws of Media, based on the literature about the topic and the existing data – the results of study on students and teachers published in recent years. After giving an outline of generational changes happening under the influence of digital media and a synthetic presentation of mediatisation’s effects for student, teacher and their relations, particular cases and issues were discussed in order. In the last part of the article, there has been made a summary of positive and negative effects of mediatization as well as opportunities and threats created by digital media together with an attempt to indicate ways of using this knowledge in Polish schools.
