THE NATURE OF THE STUDENTS' PERCEPTION OF ISLAMIC FAMILY UPBRINGING

Summary/Abstract: The work starts from the assumption that family upbringing is the first and irreplaceable upbringing which is given to the child. The importance of family upbringing from the Islamic perspective is specially emphasized. The aim of the research was to determine the nature of the students' perception of the Islamic family upbringing. Research methods included the method of theoretic analysis and the descriptive and analytical survey method. Instruments included a survey questionnaire which was designed for the needs of this research. The sample comprised 70 students in the study program Pedagogy-Psychology at the Faculty of Education from Travnik. The research results showed that students bear witness to a positive perception of the Islamic way to raise children and youth. It also confirmed that other religious communities in our country shall give their contribution to the reaffirmation of the religious upbringing in our county in order to prevent the common and increasing socio-pathological occurrences to which our Bosnian-Herzegovinian society is not resistant.
