Summary/Abstract: The article by Feshchak N. embraces the view of historical development of quartet performance and its establishment as musical genre in Ukraine. Observing the evolution of quartet music as special kind of chamber music from its origin until today, the author concludes invariability of traditions in quartet performance, functional stability of aesthetic of this genre.
