Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the 21st century the society we are living in undergoes through major changes and the rhythm of our lives becomes quicker. The first year of literature and literary creations that followed after 1989 were confused, they were the years marked out by the freedom of expression. After the enthusiasm which characterized the first years of freedom, one could notice as Alex Stefanescu did in his book entitled Istoria literaturii române contemporane 1941-2000 The History of Contemporary Romanian Literature 1941-2000, that literature is passing through a phenomenon of depreciation similar with the one witnessed by the national currency. People rather read newspapers and magazines than books (even if almost 2,500 publishing houses appeared). Three literary generations encountered at the beginning of the millenium: The generation of the 60s, the generation of the 80s and a new one, which did not publish anything before. Certain representatives of the two generations mentioned above established an informal encounter in a book published in 2008 by Humanitas Publishing House, a book which appears to be a show –type one ”Romances at the First Sight”. Five authors (Gabriel Liiceanu, Adriana Bittel, Ana Blandiana, Nicolae Manolescu, Ioana Pârvulescu) fascinate the reader with a very old motif, love, what is important in fact is love at first sight. All along the five romances the book presents several types of love from teenagers` love to grown-ups`love and elderly people`s love, as one is never too old to fall in love. The aim of our paper is to analyze ”the victory of this show” at the beginning of the 21st century with observing the features of each pair (author – romance) and narrative techniques used.
