Summary/Abstract: The place of Ukrainian sacred songs in the church culture of Ukraine of the XVII– XXIth centuries is depicted in the article. Sacred song as genre in the context of the liturgical music of Eastern and Western rites is revealed. The place of sacred songs in the liturgical practice of main Christian denominations of Ukraine is clarified. The specific features of the liturgical (paraliturgical) song in the Ukrainian Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant traditions are outlined.
