Summary/Abstract: The model of leadership styles and their relationship to the level of development of employees is mandatory knowledge in modern school and the school of the future for every manager who aspires to be an effective leader.Advanced school directors are guided by the principle of optimal management, which is democratic, and also “participatory”. They are involving employees in the process of decision-making, encourage them to develop their potential and take more responsibility. Directors are now facing “inward” to work with subordinates and they manage their schools according to the principles of situational leadership. The article focuses on the four levels of development of teachers and four leadership styles (directive, mentoring, supporting and delegating) of the principals. It highlights that there is a correlation that determines the most appropriate style of the director – for each level of development of the teaching staff.
