Summary/Abstract: In 1938 there was a lot of changes in middle Europe. People in Austria and Czechoslovakia had to face new political and social order. Slovak cultural and literary review Elán, that was printed in Prague, was one of the most brave and democratic periodics that showed how artists can deal with new political situation. This study tries to look at the way how journalists and writers react to the political and social changes in 1938.
